Labelling your shipment

Find out how to label your shipment correctly to ensure that your parcel arrives safely at its intended destination.

Labelling your parcel

International Courier ServicesYour goods are packed correctly; now it’s time to label your box correctly to ensure that your parcel arrives at its proper destination, securely and on-time.

Fragile Items

When shipping fragile goods, you must mark the box as FRAGILE. You can either do this with coloured Fragile Tape, which can be purchased from any packaging supply company or retail stationery shop or you can write FRAGILE on the box. Should you write FRAGILE on your carton, make sure that you write the word in a distinctive location and use a coloured marker pen (preferably bright red). This is to ensure that your shipment stands outs at the sortation department, ensuring that the staff notice it and are aware of your shipments fragile nature.

Second-hand boxes

When re-using second-hand boxes, remove all old address labels or barcode identifier labels on the box/carton. This old labels will lead to confusion with sortation staff/drivers and could delay or cause issues with your delivery.

Fill in the waybill correctly.

The waybill is a vital piece of information we need to ensure your parcel is delivered correctly. You will need to complete the following information:

  • Your name, address and postcode, including your phone number.
  • The receiver’s name, address and postcode as well as their contact details.
  • The number of items being sent.
  • The weight of each box.
  • The dimensions of each parcel (length, breadth and height).
  • The type of courier service you require (e.g. road freight, air freight, local courier, same-day express, time-definite, international, etc.).
  • You must sign and date the waybill.

If you have more than one box to be delivered to the same address, place the labelling in the same place on each box, this is especially important if all the boxes are identical.

Do not place the address label over a seam or closure or on top of sealing tape.

To be on the safe side, it is always a good idea to add a sheet of paper with your name, and contact number as well as the receiver address inside the box, just in case the address label on the outside of the box comes off during transit.
